Is counted to contact-free electrotherapeutic methods

In case of the magnetotherapy, the electric component of the electromagnetic field in the tissues (the electric voltage and the electric current) is (on average) 100 times higher in comparison to the traditional (contact) electrotherapy.

It is used for therapeutic purposes due to the general biologic effects of the magnetic component of the electromagnetic field. The magnetic field is generated around every conductor through which electric current is flowing; its characteristics depend on the parameters of the electric current. The phenomenon is called the "electromagnetic induction".

The magnetic field may be any of the below: a static, an alternative or a pulse field. In case of the pulse magnetic fields, their frequency is important: The pulse field may be either: Low frequency, i.e. from 0 through 100 Hz, up to 150 Hz High frequency, 9 through 250 MHz, connected in groups of low frequency (40 through 640 Hz)

As for the low-frequency therapy, the thermal effect is not used for the therapeutic effects anyhow, which makes the method different from the high-frequency therapy (especially the capacitive method). It means that the low-frequency pulse magnetotherapy works well even with people who use metal prostheses or prostheses, or have implants installed in their bodies. Many devices and instruments have been designed for the magnetotherapeutic purposes, some of them are offered in the Czech Republic as well. Some time ago, those devices were sophisticated and of top technical quality, and many curative programs were offered. However, the machines were big and heavy, and complicated to be controlled by a patient, and the access to these methods was rather rare.

As for the therapy by means of the electromagnet, what you need is not only the generator itself (which is rather a complicated device) to generate electric pulses, but you need an applicator - which means coils of various shapes. As a standard, board applicators, i.e. coils made of wires are used: the coils generate a homogenous magnetic field. Another frequently used type is applicators shaped as a hollow cylinder named solenoids. According to medical research, the solenoids seem to be most efficient, especially if used in order to deal with deep layers of the tissues. The new series of devices BIOMAG are equipped with such applicators - the solenoids. Moreover, the solenoids are designed in such a way that the magnetic field generated will affect exactly the parts of the body as assumed and needed.

We have already mentioned the so-called bio-tropic parameters of the magnetic field: the knowledge of them is important for an optimal curative effect. There are several of them; however, just three are the most important: First, there is the induction (already mentioned). Another important parameter is the pulse frequency, i.e. the number of the pulses per 1 second. As for our, the so-called low frequency magnetotherapy, usually the frequency from 1 to 25-81 pulses/second is used. What suits best is the combination of the frequencies used just in our new series. The pulses may be generated in regular intervals or in the so-called clusters. The cluster is group of short pulses following one just after another, then there is a short pause, and then another group is generated.

The third and, in fact, the most important parameter is the pulse shape, as the biological response of organisms depends on it. Theoretically, it is possible to generate many variations of the pulses. The most efficient and proved pulse combinations were considered at design and development of the devices of the BIOMAG series.
